Hello again --

I am back from Wisconsin as of late Monday evening. Thanks to brother-in-law Bob for watching over Craig in my absence.

We are scheduled for an appointment in the Nephrology Clinic at Mayo in Rochester on Monday, August 30th. We can't wait to get there. US News and World Report lists Mayo as #1 for Nephrology in the country. We sure hope that they will shed some light on Craig's condition.

Craig is getting dialysis Monday, Wednesday and Friday routinely now. He felt very poorly when they tried to stretch it out to every 7 to 10 days. He is quite drawn and emaciated from the waist up, puffy and edematous from the waist down. However, I heard him whistling today -- don't know how he does it.

He had another Abdominal CT today because one of his liver tests continues to climb (GGT in the 500 range now), however other liver tests (SGOT and SGPT) much less elevated (low 100's). Can't figure out why this is.

Found out today that blood test sent to the CDC will take about 1 month to be completed! That was surprising! Guess we won't be waiting by the phone for that one.

Craig still on high dose steroids which may be why, in my absence, he replaced all the silverware in our kitchen and labelled each partition in the flatware drawer organizer, hauled the leather recliner in our family room outside onto the deck, and had helpers move all my crafting supplies to a different closet. He gets maybe 4 or 5 hours of sleep each night and is always last to bed and first to awaken. His brain is buzzing and his body is dragging.

Prayers that the doctors at Mayo can help us.

Love, Sharon

  1. Hey Craigers,
We are only 90 miles form the Mayo Clinic. If you need a place to stay for a few days, give us a call! We anxiously await each and every word that comes from the NW. I hope the CDC can come up with something from the blood that was sent to them. I am optimistic the Mayo Clinic will help you out. I have been very impressed with that facility! You will too I hope. Hi to Nick and Amanda. Hard to believe we have high schoolers!
    Love and kisses,
Sherri and Bill, Anna and Brian
