Craig was admitted to Swedish Hospital yesterday morning for profound weakness and fatigue, abdominal pain, greatly increased protein in the urine, plummeting albumin protein in the blood, low blood pressure and dehydration.
Craig was admitted to Swedish Hospital yesterday morning for profound weakness and fatigue, abdominal pain, greatly increased protein in the urine, plummeting albumin protein in the blood, low blood pressure and dehydration.
He has been started on IV fluids, high doses of steroid and infusions of albumin. They have started a different antibiotic and discontinued his blood pressure medicine. His kidneys are starting to react negatively to the large amounts of protein coming through them. He is on a special kidney diet.
He is feeling a bit better today. He has been seen by a kidney doctor, a GI doctor, an infectious disease doctor and his internist. They are checking for malaria, Lyme disease, Trypanosomiasis, and other weird infections, since the treatment for brucellosis has not been helpful. He gets to swallow a small camera tomorrow to check the small intestine.
Low point of today was being poked 5 times to start an IV. High point was 4 beautiful flower arrangements arriving and starting to feel just a little better.
