Greetings!
Well, I guess there is a reason that they call it practicing medicine. Turns out Craig has gained 26 pounds of fluid since admission last week Thursday. During the night he noticed dramatic swelling of his legs and arms and a weight this morning confirmed that he has edema. So now off with the IV and instead get blasted with diuretic medicine. It is a good sign that the diuretic seems to be working.
He had a repeat kidney ultrasound today and that looked okay.
The repeat Brucellosis titer gets run tomorrow and really anxious to see that result. The doxycycline and rifampin antibiotics are annoying to the stomach, so it would be good to know if they are really needed. We plan to continue on the "magic" Biaxin that coincided with dramatic improvement in May.
The creatinine is up again to 3.9. We need that to start going down. Everyone envision that level dropping, okay? Maybe our collective karma can make it happen.
I told Craig that our crummy weather is turning around, so we need to spring him from the hospital digs.
Love to all, Sharon
